Terroux is a 60 hectare rural property near Hall, just 30 minutes from Canberra’s CBD. It is the home of Barbara Baikie and Peter Fletcher.
Since moving to the property, Barbara and Peter have worked tirelessly to regenerate the degraded grazing land with the planting of thousands of trees and the creation of a peace garden with garden rooms, groves and plantations. They have also created a beautiful decorative garden in front of the house with magnificent sweeping views to the Brindabellas.
Barbara and Peter share a philosophy of sharing with and giving to their community. The house and garden have been regularly shared with the public for Open Garden weekends and for charitable fundraising soirées with performances by local musicians.
In 2019 they launch their writer’s residency program with accommodation in the self-contained rooms in the west wing of the family home. Their visitors’ cottage will also be open in late 2019.
Visitors to Terroux can enjoy the peace and beauty of the environment and the warm hospitality of the owners. And if you want to pat a horse, Peter will be glad to oblige by introducing you to his four legged residents.
